The North Shropshire Nightmare Before Christmas

The 'cry of pain' from MPs in Tuesday's rebellion has built up into a howl of voter protest. The North Shropshire result contains no crumb of comfort for Boris. He cannot blame:

  • Turnout:
    • It was decent at 46% - the by-election average since Thatcher came to power has been 51%
  • Brexit:
    • A Remainer Lib Dem won in a seat where 59.8% voted to Leave, putting it in the top quartile of Brexit . . .
